Ose Abuwe (Soap Refill)
African black soap, handmade by women-run co-operatives in Nigeria with shea butter, honey, coconut oil and plantain skins. A soft, rich lather that leaves skin clean and comfortable. 100g refill, no tin.
Small batchHandmade in small batches, so each piece varies a little in size and colour, and stock is limited.
What you’ll notice
- Clean, not tight. Washes away the day without stripping your skin.
- A pinch is plenty. One small piece makes a big, soft lather.
- Soft skin after. Follow with shea butter and you are done.
Pinch off a small piece and rub it between wet hands or onto a washcloth for a thick, soft lather. Ose abuwe means soap you pinch to wash, so a little goes a long way. Follow with shea butter to lock in moisture.
Shea butter, lime, cocoa pods, coconut oil, honey, plantain skins, turmeric, orange, aloe vera, sandalwood, Epsom salts and cinnamon. Sun-dried plantain skins replace lye. 100g, and because it is handmade, size may vary.
Black soap is soft and softens further in water, so keep it in a tin and out of the shower stream. Refills come without a tin, so keep yours or use any container with a lid.
Patch test before first use and keep it away from your eyes. If your skin is dry or sensitive, use it less often.
