Care & Disposal

General care

Rinse products after use, keep them dry between uses, and store out of direct sunlight. Reuse comes first, then recycle. All FLON packaging is 100% recyclable and plastic-free.

Bamboo toothbrush

Most dentists recommend changing your brush every 3 months. If you have been unwell or the bristles fray, change it sooner. See our Bamboo Toothbrush.

Keep it upright in a dry place so water can drain. Rinse as you would a plastic brush.

The handle is 100% biodegradable. Remove the bristles and small staple with pliers, compost the handle and recycle the paper box.

Our soft DuPont Nylon 6 bristles are BPA free. They cannot currently be recycled and represent only a small amount of plastic compared with a full plastic brush.

Silk dental floss

Keep the glass dispenser dry between uses. Refill with our compostable silk spools. See Silk Dental Floss.

Used silk floss can be added to home compost where local guidance allows.

Safety razor care

After shaving, loosen the head, rinse the razor and blade thoroughly and let all parts dry. Reassemble finger tight only. Do not overtighten.

Avoid dropping. Impacts on hard surfaces can dent or misalign parts and may cause the head or handle to crack. Place a towel or mat in the sink during blade changes.

Store the razor dry between uses. If you live in a hard water area, wipe the head occasionally to prevent mineral build up. Replace blades regularly for the smoothest shave.

See our razors: Single 2.0 Safety Razor.

Blade disposal

Place used double edge blades into a blade bank or a sealable metal tin as soon as you remove them.

When full, seal the container securely and recycle it with metal according to local guidance.

Never put loose blades in household rubbish. Keep out of reach of children.

Insulated stainless steel bottle

Hand wash with warm soapy water. For a deep clean, soak with warm water and bicarbonate of soda, then rinse. Avoid dishwashers to protect insulation and the seal.

Do not freeze, boil or microwave. Do not use with dry ice. Allow to dry with the lid off when storing.

See the bottle: Insulated Stainless Steel Bottle.

Menstrual cups

Before first use and between cycles, place the cup in the included steriliser, cover with boiling water and leave for about 10 minutes. During your cycle, rinse with water and a mild, fragrance free soap if needed.

Do not use oil based or antibacterial cleansers. Dry fully and store in the breathable pouch, not in an airtight container.

See the set: Menstrual Cup Set.

Sisal washcloth

Rinse after use and hang to dry. It will soften over time while still exfoliating. Replace every 2 to 3 months.

At end of life, remove any stitching and compost the sisal where local guidance allows.

See the cloth: Natural Sisal Washcloth.

Reusable bamboo pads

Place used pads in the mesh bag, wash at 30 to 40 °C and air dry or tumble dry on low.

Avoid fabric softener to keep them absorbent. Wash colours with similar shades.

See the pads: Reusable Bamboo Pads.

Shea butter

Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. If it grains naturally, warm a small amount between your palms to melt before applying.

Use clean, dry hands or a clean spatula. Do not introduce water into the jar. Patch test before first use.

See our butter: FLON Shea Butter.

African black soap

Pinch off a small piece and lather in your hands or on a cloth. Keep the rest dry in its tin between uses.

If your skin is dry or sensitive, use less often or dilute the lather. Patch test before first use and avoid the eye area.

See our soap: African Black Soap.

Packaging

Our packaging is 100% recyclable and plastic free. We use kraft paper, recycled cardboard, compostable fillers and paper tape. Please reuse where possible, then recycle.
